Prof. Dr. Hürriyet Yılmaz Biography

Dr. Yılmaz has graduated from İzmir High School for Girls, and has received her medical degree from Istanbul University School of Medicine in 1983. Completing her specialization in Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the years 1985-1990, she has received the title of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist. Dr. Yılmaz has started working in the Istanbul Hospital of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and has served as head physician for nearly 10 years and has contributed to the hospital's specialization in rehabilitation. In 1995, she has become associate professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has served as Health Director of Istanbul in 1996. She has worked in Çanakkale University School of Medicine Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2009-2011, and afterwards in the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department under Haliç University Department of Health Sciences, earning her title as Professor from the same university in 2012. At present, Dr. Yılmaz continues her work in the academic field, as an academic of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at the Haliç University Department of Health Sciences. She also is a consultant doctor for Romatem Nişantaşı Center for Physical Treatment. At Formed Healthcare Center for Prosthesis and Orthesis, Dr. Yılmaz works with scoliosis braces and orthesis applications to serve patients.

Dr. Yılmaz holds a master's degree of Health Institution Management, and certificate for Orthesis and Prosthesis Technician Education. Along with the Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Yılmaz is certified by the European Board of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Yılmaz works especially in the fields of orthesis and prosthesis applications, the conservative treatment of scoliosis, and spinal disorders. Having collaborated with multiple institutions abroad, she is the founder and chief physician of Formed Healthcare Center for Prosthesis and Orthesis. Prof. Dr. Hürriyet Yılmaz is the author of many research articles, chapters in academic works and books.
